Crossroads Multimedia was formed in 1993 and over the past years has been involved in the development of a wide variety of Interactive Multimedia, Internet, RIA and hybrid CD-ROM/DVD-ROM/Internet projects, working as a freelance supplier.

We utilise tools such as Flash, Flex, Director, ColdFusion, AIR, AJAX, MySQL, Ruby/Rails. We have worked both as a sub-contractor and primary contractor, with a number of small and large national and international corporations.

Projects have covered a range of budgets, small and large, providing solutions for company promotion, product marketing/support, complex training scenarios, conference support materials, kiosks, registration systems, and lead management systems.

Flex/Flashbuilder Development

Adobe Flex/Flash Builder/AIR Authoring and Development

Primarily developing in Adobe Flex [now renamed Flash Builder] - coding in ActionScript 3 to achieve a clients needs for Rich Internet Applications[RIA] development.

These Internet applications can be deployed over the Internet, or run as desktop applications as AIR or ZINC "wrapped" applications, or packaged and run as Android applications on mobile devices.

Utilising a number of tools we can author in Flex, allowing access to operating system features, databases, Flash Remoting, Live Cycle and Coldfusion components providing a solution for most scenarios.

We have developed a number of leading edge solutions, including:

  • a Lead Generation system that is being utilised by Make It Happen as an internal intranet accessible application. Functionality includes campaign assignments, hours tracking, timesheets, performance dashboards.
  • a Fit For Marketing application that guides SAP partners through a series of quarterly goals to enhance their marketing capabilities across the SAP application sets
  • a contact management and telemarketing system for Orange
  • a number of externally facing form driven systems, with authentication functionality

  • Body Mass Indicator Flex plugin application (to the right of page)

Utilising a number of tools we author in Flash/AIR, allowing access to operating system features, databases, Flash Remoting, and Coldfusion components providing a solution for most scenarios.

Where Flash cannot meet the specific requirement we can usually satisfy the need with a hybrid of Flash and Director authoring.

For desktop applications AIR is usually utilised - this can also be retasked from a Flex/Flash Builder version into an AIR application, and more lately to AIR for Android.

We usually (but not exclusively) develop backend services and dynamic websites within a ColdFusion environment.

Database connectivity can be Access, MySQL, MySQLLite, or MS SQL.

With the growing power and sophistication of Mobile Devices (PDA's / Mobile Phones / Tablets) with larger screen sizes, colour screens, WI-FI, audio, BlueTooth the feasibility of delivering multimedia/web/RIA content through these technologies to end users is growing day by day.

Streaming video content, website content, multimedia content and RIA's are certainly achievable and practical today.

Growing adoption of Android by a number of mobile/tablet device manufacturers using Android as their OS choice, has opened up the development of RIA's in Flex/Flash Builder and then packaged as Android apps.

 

Android Devices

A significant advantage of developing RIA's in Flash/Flash Builder is that thye can be multi-tasked and packaged for use on PC/Mac, websites, as an AIR desktop application, and also Android apps for Android OS based phone/tablet usage.
